Overview of the Role

The Department of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position.

The Department welcomes candidates from all accounting research and teaching specialty areas. The successful candidate will contribute to the Department and School through research, teaching, and academic service.

Teaching responsibilities will primarily involve face-to-face classroom instruction.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct high-quality academic research.

• Maintain an active scholarly research programme.

• Teach Accounting courses within the School of Business.

• Contribute to Department and School service activities.

• Support the academic mission of the Department of Accounting.

• Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Qualification

Applicants must:

• Hold a Ph.D. in Accounting, or

• Be an Accounting doctoral candidate expected to complete the Ph.D. by August 2027.

• Possess excellent written and spoken English-language skills.

• Demonstrate the ability to work professionally and respectfully with faculty, staff, and students from varied backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality academic research.

• Evidence of effective teaching in a higher-education environment.

• Professional work experience in an Accounting or Finance role.

Research & Teaching Profile

The Department welcomes candidates across all Accounting research and teaching areas.

Salary / Remuneration

The stated annual salary range is:
