Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 – University of Allahabad

The K. Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies (KBCAOS), University of Allahabad invites applications for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a National Monsoon Mission research project sponsored by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India.

Position Overview

About the Research Project

The selected candidate will work on the National Monsoon Mission sponsored research project titled:

“Predictability of Summer Monsoon from the latest version of dynamical prediction system of India over Central India with special reference to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.”

The research primarily relates to atmospheric science, meteorology, climate modelling, monsoon prediction, and data analysis.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess either:

A. Postgraduate Degree (M.Sc./M.Tech.) in:

• Atmospheric and Ocean Science

• Earth System Science

• Meteorology

• Geophysics

• Geology

• Physics

• Mathematics

• Statistics

• Computer Science

OR

B. B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in:

• Meteorology

• Atmospheric Engineering

• Ocean/Marine Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Civil Engineering

• Computer Engineering

• Information Technology

The qualification must be from a Government-recognized University/Institute.

Candidates must also have cleared UGC NET / CSIR NET / GATE / National-Level Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of:

• Big Data Analysis and Display Tools

• Mathematical Modelling

• Climate Models

• Artificial Intelligence

• High-Performance Computing (HPC)

• Linux/UNIX

• MATLAB

• C++

• Python

Candidates should also have at least 60% marks at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree levels.

Fellowship

First 2 Years – JRF:
INR 37,000 per month + 20% HRA

3rd Year – SRF:
INR 42,000 per month + 20% HRA

Upgradation from JRF to SRF will be governed by the applicable DST/MoES rules mentioned in the advertisement.

Appointment Duration

The appointment will initially be for one year.

It may be continued until the end of the project, subject to satisfactory performance in periodic work appraisals/reviews and applicable project conditions.
