The University of Allahabad, Prayagraj invites applications for 01 Junior Research Assistant (JRA) position in the Department of Zoology under a research project funded by the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh (CSTUP). The project focuses on microplastic pollution, environmental risks, and sustainable mitigation measures in the Mandakini River.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Assessment of Microplastic Load, Associated Risks, and Sustainable Mitigation Measures in the Mandakini River, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh”

The project aims to investigate microplastic contamination, associated environmental risks, and sustainable mitigation strategies in the Mandakini River ecosystem.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.Sc. in Life Science / Environmental Science / related discipline

• A First-Class academic record

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• NET qualification

• Prior experience in aquatic ecology

• Experience or knowledge of microplastic analysis

• Knowledge of analytical techniques such as:

  • FTIR spectroscopy

  • Raman spectroscopy

• Experience in environmental monitoring

• Field sampling experience and techniques

Age Limit

The upper age limit is:

28 Years as on 01 April 2026

• Indian citizens

• Residents of Uttar Pradesh

Duration of Appointment

The project has a tenure of:

3 Years

• Continuation of the research project
