Overview of the Role

The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure eligible Lecturer position in Information Technology & Innovation beginning in January 2027.

The principal teaching requirement is a 1.5-credit course on the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Commerce programme.

The appointment is intended for short-term and/or part-time academic teaching assignments.

Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will primarily:

• Teach a 1.5-credit graduate course in Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship.

• Deliver student-centered instruction.

• Work collaboratively within the Information Technology & Innovation area.

• Potentially teach additional courses if academic needs arise.

Any additional courses will be compensated at the advertised rate of USD 3,000–4,000 per credit hour.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field, highly preferred.

Alternatively, candidates may be considered with:

• A relevant Master’s degree, and

• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience.

Applicants must also demonstrate:

• Industry or educational experience in entrepreneurship.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Collaborative working ability.

• Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented academic environment.

• Commitment to innovation and student-centered learning.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Previous teaching experience in higher education.

• Strong practical entrepreneurship experience.

• Experience connecting academic concepts with business practice.

Compensation

For the primary 1.5-credit course, compensation is:

USD 4,500–6,000

Approximately:

INR 4.25–5.66 lakh for the course

Additional teaching assignments are compensated at:

USD 3,000–4,000 per credit hour

The appointment is part-time and paid on a faculty-wage basis.
