Overview of Role

The University of Puget Sound invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics position beginning in Fall 2027.

The department seeks an applied economist prepared to teach Econometrics and Intermediate Macroeconomics, while contributing to student advising and departmental and university governance.

Research Areas of Interest

Preference will be given to candidates whose primary research fields include:

• Macroeconomics

• History of Economic Thought

• Health Economics

• Public Finance

Secondary fields of interest include:

• Development Economics

• Finance

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Teach 3 courses per semester.

• Teach Econometrics.

• Teach Intermediate Macroeconomics.

• Teach additional Economics courses aligned with departmental needs and candidate expertise.

• Advise students.

• Participate in departmental governance.

• Contribute to university governance and service.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Ph.D. in Economics preferred

• ABD candidates will also be considered

Salary & Benefits

Assistant Professor of Economics salaries for 2026–27 range from approximately:

• INR 82.47 lakh annually at the lower end

• INR 94.81 lakh annually at the upper end

Final salary is commensurate with education and experience.
