Overview of the Opportunity

The Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Business Administration.

The appointment may be made at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and will be based in the Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and International Business area.

The successful candidate will contribute to research, teaching, academic service, and leadership within the department and university.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Maintain an active and productive research programme.

• Conduct high-quality research in Strategy, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or related areas.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

• Contribute to departmental and university service.

• Provide academic leadership appropriate to rank.

• Participate in the research culture of the SEIB area.

Teaching may involve different delivery formats, and experience with online teaching is valued but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Hold, or be completing, a Ph.D. in Business or a related disciplinary field.

• Demonstrate a strong research portfolio.

• Show evidence of teaching effectiveness.

• Demonstrate leadership potential appropriate to the rank sought.

For applicants at the Assistant Professor level, the doctoral degree should be completed by June 1, 2027.

Experience teaching Entrepreneurship is preferred.

Salary / Remuneration

The budgeted 9-month salary ranges are:

Assistant Professor

• Approximately INR 1.94 crore – INR 2.13 crore

Associate Professor

• Approximately INR 2.03 crore – INR 2.32 crore

Professor

• Approximately INR 2.23 crore – INR 2.71 crore

Final compensation will depend on rank, experience, qualifications, discipline, internal equity, and comparable market compensation.

The position may also provide an opportunity for a summer appointment.

Visa Sponsorship

The position is eligible for visa sponsorship, subject to University requirements.

The posting specifically states that sponsorship is not available for a new H-1B petition that would incur the USD 100,000 fee.
