Overview of Role

The Department of Information and Decision Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Operations Management beginning in the 2027–2028 academic year.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research addresses applied areas such as health care, transportation, energy and sustainability, or the intersection of AI and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Conduct high-quality research in operations management and related fields.

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in supply chain and operations management and related analytics areas.

• Publish research in leading academic journals.

• Interact effectively with students, industry partners, and the broader community.

• Contribute to experiential learning and industry engagement where appropriate.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

• Required Education: PhD in Management Science, Operations Management, Operations Research, or a closely related field, completed or near completion by the start date.

• Experience & Specializations: Strong research record and demonstrated ability and interest in teaching supply chain and operations management courses.

• Preferred Research Areas: Health care, transportation, energy and sustainability, or AI and supply chain management.

• Industry Engagement: Interest in collaborating with industry partners and contributing to experiential learning.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Salary: $185,000–$220,000 per year, commensurate with experience and rank.
