University of Hyderabad Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026–27 – Apply for 2–3 Positions

The University of Hyderabad (UoH), in collaboration with the Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI), invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the UoH–HYI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in China Studies.

The fellowship is offered through the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of USD 1,750, an annual research award of USD 6,500, and a fellowship tenure of 24 months.

About the Postdoctoral Fellowship

The University of Hyderabad–Harvard-Yenching Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in China Studies offers an opportunity for scholars to pursue advanced academic research in China Studies.

The programme is administered through the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad.

The fellowship is intended for researchers with a doctoral qualification and a demonstrated academic interest in China Studies.

Essential Qualifications and Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

1. Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens.

2. Research Specialisation: Applicants must be scholars of China Studies and affiliated with an academic institution or university in India.

3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Mandarin for academic research purposes is highly desirable.

4. Employment Status: Applicants must not hold permanent or tenured positions.

5. Ph.D. Qualification: Applicants must have been awarded their Ph.D. degree no earlier than 1 January 2021.

6. Ph.D. Verification: Applicants will be required to submit proof of Ph.D. conferral.

7. No-Objection Certificate: Employed applicants must submit a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer permitting full-time participation throughout the 24-month fellowship period at the time of joining the host institution.

Fellowship Stipend and Research Award

Selected candidates will receive the following financial support:

The amounts will be provided in their equivalent INR value, as indicated in the official notification.

Duration and Nature of Appointment

• Duration: 24 months.

• Nature: Purely temporary appointment.

• Employment Status: The fellowship does not provide any right to claim regular employment at the University of Hyderabad.

Selection Process

Eligible applications will be considered by the UoH–HYI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme Selection Committee.

• Interviews will be conducted online.

• Interview Platform: Google Meet or Zoom.

• Only eligible candidates will be informed about further selection proceedings through email or letter at a later date.
