The Journal of Risk Finance invites theoretical and empirical contributions for a Special Issue examining how financial inclusion, digital technologies, sustainable finance, and emerging risk-management challenges are reshaping contemporary financial systems.
About the Special Issue
Financial systems are undergoing major transformation due to climate change, financial digitalisation, extensive data use, artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, and emerging financial ecosystems.
These developments provide new opportunities for identifying, assessing, and monitoring financial, environmental, climate, and operational risks. Technologies such as satellite systems, big data analytics, AI, machine learning, IoT, and machine-generated data are increasingly being used to support financial decision-making and risk assessment.
At the same time, technological innovation introduces new challenges involving cybersecurity, model risk, governance, critical infrastructure dependence, financial stability, and regulatory oversight.
The Special Issue also focuses on the growing importance of financial inclusion and digital access to financial services, particularly their role in strengthening household and firm resilience and supporting broader economic inclusion.
