Overview of Role

The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting.

This is a renewable, non-tenure-track teaching appointment designed to strengthen teaching capacity across high-demand Accounting courses. The successful candidate will support student learning, CPA readiness, curriculum innovation, and the integration of analytics, technology, and AI into Accounting education.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Teach a 7-course annual load across undergraduate and graduate programs.

• Typical teaching distribution is:

  • 3 courses in one semester

  • 4 courses in the other semester

• Teach courses such as:

  • Accounting Information Systems

  • Information Technology for Business

  • Financial Accounting

  • Managerial Accounting

  • Cost Accounting

• Develop and deliver CPA-relevant instructional content.

• Support departmental CPA-review programming.

• Integrate:

  • Data Analytics

  • Data Visualization

  • Emerging Technologies

  • Artificial Intelligence tools
    into Accounting instruction.

• Collaborate with faculty on curriculum innovation.

• Mentor and advise students.

• Participate in departmental and school service.

• Contribute to experiential and career-focused Accounting education.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in:

  • Accounting

  • Information Systems

  • Data Analytics

  • Closely related field

• Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness in Accounting, Information Systems, or another relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Ph.D. in Accounting, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.

• Professional certification such as:

  • CPA

  • CMA

  • CISA

  • Equivalent professional credential

• CPA certification is particularly valued.

• Experience integrating technology, analytics, and AI into Accounting instruction.

• Experience teaching:

  • Accounting Information Systems

  • Accounting Analytics

  • Data Visualization

  • Emerging Technologies

• Relevant professional or public Accounting experience.
