Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Vacancy 2026: SVNIT Surat

The Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, is inviting applications from highly motivated and bright candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). This position is part of an externally funded research project sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India, under the Department of Civil Engineering.

• Number of Vacancies: 01 (One)

• Principal Investigator: Dr. Banti A. Gedam

• Duration: The initial appointment is for one year, which is extendable up to the completion of the project based on candidate performance.

• Fellowship Amount: Rs. 37,000/- per month for the first two years, and Rs. 42,000/- per month for the third year (upon upgrading to SRF), plus applicable HRA as per standard SERB regulations.

Eligibility Criteria & Skill Requirements

• Essential Qualifications: Candidates must hold a first-division B.Tech/B.E. degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, alongside an M.Tech/M.E. in Structural Engineering, Structural Dynamics Engineering, or Earthquake Engineering.

• Mandatory Requirement: A valid GATE or NET qualification is mandatory.

• Desirable Skills: A strong background in programming and software tools such as SAP, ETABS, MATLAB, ABAQUS, ANSYS, Artificial Intelligence, or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is highly encouraged. Practical experience in simulating heat and mass transfer in structural members on computational and experimental platforms will be considered a strong asset.

• Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 30 years as of the application submission date. An age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/physically challenged and women candidates.

(Note: The selected candidate will be actively encouraged to register for a Ph.D. program in the Department of Civil Engineering at SVNIT Surat.)
