Overview of Role

Sauk Valley Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Business Faculty position.

The role combines teaching, curriculum development, assessment, student advising, institutional service, and ongoing professional development. The successful candidate will support the College’s learning-centered mission while maintaining current expertise in the field of Business.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Deliver high-quality Business instruction.

• Assess student learning and adapt teaching methods to improve outcomes.

• Participate in college-wide assessment processes.

• Review and contribute to curriculum and program development.

• Maintain current knowledge in the assigned discipline.

• Maintain accurate grades, attendance, and student progress records.

• Provide regular office hours for student support.

• Advise students and coordinate with counseling staff where appropriate.

• Attend department, faculty, committee, and institutional meetings.

• Participate in professional development and annual goal-setting.

• Contribute to institutional service and departmental responsibilities.

• Teach in-person courses as required.

• Online teaching may be incorporated into the regular teaching load.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Position is primarily campus-based.

• Faculty are expected to be present on campus for:

  • Office hours

  • Department meetings

  • Committee meetings

  • College-wide responsibilities

• Courses are generally scheduled on:

  • Monday / Wednesday

  • Tuesday / Thursday

• Some institutional events and meetings may take place on Fridays.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess one of the following:

• MBA, or

• Master’s degree in:

  • Accounting

  • Economics

  • Finance

  • Another relevant Business discipline

Candidates must also have:

• 18 graduate credit hours in Economics, or

• The ability to complete those credit hours within a reasonable timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• College-level teaching experience.

• High school teaching experience.

• Commitment to the community college philosophy.

• Experience assessing student learning outcomes.

• Familiarity with online or internet-based instruction.
