Overview of the Role

The School of Accountancy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accountancy beginning August 10, 2027.

Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Accounting aligned with their primary and secondary teaching areas.

The current standard teaching load is:

6 credit hours / 2 courses per semester

This teaching load applies in conjunction with an approved research programme.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct scholarly research.

• Publish in premier and high-quality academic journals.

• Present research at appropriate academic and professional conferences.

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Accounting courses.

• Contribute to departmental and university governance.

• Participate in professional and community service.

• Support the university's student success and retention mission.

• Contribute actively to the School of Accountancy and College of Business and Analytics.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• A Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in Accounting or a related field by the effective date of employment.

Applicants who are ABD may also be considered, provided they expect to complete all doctoral requirements before August 10, 2027.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• A clear Accounting research agenda.

• Potential to publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

• Ability to teach in relevant Accounting areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• A Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited institution.

• Professional Accounting certification.

• Research expertise in Auditing.

• Expertise in Analytics.

• Expertise in Accounting Information Systems.
