Overview of the Role

The School of Analytics, Finance and Economics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications for a continuing, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Finance position beginning August 10, 2027.

The School seeks candidates with strong potential for excellence in Corporate Finance research and high-quality Finance teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Finance courses.

• Teach Finance Ph.D. seminars in Corporate Finance.

• Provide face-to-face graduate instruction.

• Supervise graduate students.

• Conduct high-quality scholarly research.

• Publish research in strong academic journals.

• Contribute to School and University service.

• Fulfil responsibilities appropriate to the appointed academic rank.

Research & Teaching Focus

The position particularly emphasizes:

• Corporate Finance

• Finance Research

• Ph.D.-level Finance Education

• Graduate Student Supervision

• Undergraduate Finance Education

• Peer-Reviewed Academic Publishing

Candidates should demonstrate strong potential to produce research suitable for publication in high-quality journals.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• A Ph.D. in Finance or a related discipline, or

• ABD status with all doctoral requirements expected to be completed by August 10, 2027.

• Strong potential for research leading to publication in high-quality journals.

• Ability to effectively teach Ph.D. seminars in Corporate Finance.

ABD Candidates

ABD applicants may be considered.

If all requirements for the doctorate are not completed by the appointment date, the University may offer a:

Nine-month, term, non-tenure-track Instructor appointment

in accordance with University policy.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• High-quality journal publications.

• Strong research record in Finance.

• Demonstrated potential for continued scholarly productivity.

Salary / Remuneration
