The Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education invites online applications for appointment to the post of Director in seven National Institutes of Technology (NITs) against upcoming vacancies.

1. NIT Hamirpur – Himachal Pradesh

2. NIT Jaipur – Rajasthan

3. NIT Jalandhar – Punjab

4. NIT Rourkela – Odisha

5. NIT Surat – Gujarat

6. NIT Tiruchirappalli – Tamil Nadu

7. NIT Mizoram – Mizoram

About the Position

The Director serves as the academic and administrative head of an NIT. The position requires proven administrative, teaching, and research experience, including significant experience in research guidance at the Ph.D. level, along with demonstrated leadership qualities.

Essential Profile

Candidates are expected to have:

• Proven administrative experience

• Strong teaching experience

• Established research background

• Significant experience in research guidance at the Ph.D. level

• Demonstrated leadership qualities suitable for heading a National Institute of Technology

Salary & Allowances

The appointment carries:

• Fixed Pay: INR 2,10,000 per month

• Special Allowance: INR 11,250 per month

• Other admissible allowances applicable to Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities and Directors of other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs)

Appointment Duration

The appointment will be made on a contract basis for:

• 5 years, or

• Until attainment of 70 years of age

whichever is earlier.
