Overview of Role

Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar invites applications from eligible candidates for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a TEXMiN-DST funded research project in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Project Title

“Utilization of Bayer Red Mud as a Supplementary Cementitious Material for Low-Carbon LC³ Cement Production”

The project focuses on developing a thermal activation protocol for Bayer red mud, designing and validating RM-LC³ cement blends with mining-derived limestone, assessing environmental, energy and economic benefits through AI-driven Life Cycle Analysis, and demonstrating the scalability of low-carbon cement production.

Key Responsibilities & Research Scope

The selected JRF will be expected to:

• Contribute to research experiments under the project.

• Assist with project-related administrative work.

• Visit outstation institutions for materials and data collection.

• Participate in experimental and research activities related to low-carbon cement.

• Prepare draft project reports.

• Contribute to research articles and publications.

• Assist in development of patents and other research outputs.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess a First Class M.Tech. or Master's degree in any of the following areas:

• Structural Engineering

• Construction Technology and Management

• Transportation Engineering

• Geotechnical Engineering

• Equivalent relevant discipline

Candidates should also be qualified in GATE / UGC / CSIR-NET or an equivalent examination.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Experimental experience related to Construction Materials / Concrete

• Experience in Material Characterization

• Knowledge or experience in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

• Quality research publications

• Strong academic credentials

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month + HRA

The fellowship will be provided as per applicable Institute/project norms.

Duration of Appointment

• The JRF position is associated with the project for up to 2 years.

• Initial appointment will be for 1 year on a purely temporary basis.

• It may be extended for another year based on satisfactory performance.

• The appointment will be co-terminus with the project.

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 35 Years as on the date of selection.

Age relaxation will be applicable according to DST-SERB and Government of India norms.
