The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur) invites applications for 01 Project Assistant position in the Department of Chemistry under a DST-funded sponsored research project. The project involves molecular biology research on host–pathogen interactions during Legionella infection.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Delineation of Molecular Mechanism of Interaction Between the Human E2 Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme and the Substrate-Bound Bacterial Effector Lpg2455/GobX, a U-Box E3 Ubiquitin Ligase, During Legionella Infection”

The project focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms involved in host–pathogen interactions, ubiquitination, bacterial effectors, and molecular biology of Legionella infection.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or a related field

• Minimum 55% marks

• Degree must be from a recognized university

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Master’s Degree in Life Sciences

• Prior research experience in molecular biology

• Hands-on experience in:

  • Sub-cloning

  • Protein overexpression

  • Protein purification

Candidates who have qualified national-level examinations such as:

• CSIR-UGC NET

• DBT

• ICMR

• GATE

• NET-JRF

are encouraged to apply.

Fellowship

The selected Project Assistant will receive:

INR 20,000 per month (Consolidated)

Project Tenure

The sponsored research project has a tenure of:

4 Years 3 Months

The appointment will be governed by the applicable terms and conditions of the funded research project and NIT Jamshedpur.

Ph.D. Opportunity

The selected candidate may be eligible to register for a Ph.D. programme at NIT Jamshedpur, provided they satisfy the Institute’s prescribed Ph.D. admission and eligibility requirements.
