Position Overview

About the Project

The research project focuses on developing an Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) system for underground imaging.

The proposed system will identify local changes in soil conductivity by injecting low-frequency alternating electrical currents and measuring the developed boundary potentials.

The research involves:

• Modelling and simulation of underground domains using computer software

• Investigation of soil properties and geometries

• Analysis of AC current frequencies

• Electrode configurations

• Study of object shapes, sizes, and burial depths

• Development of hardware prototypes for tomographic imaging devices

• Image reconstruction software

• Detection and identification of buried objects

The project will also explore Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) as a non-contact underground imaging technique.

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 02 Posts

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess a Postgraduate Degree in Professional Courses obtained through a process described under one of the following:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship

• GATE

• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and their agencies/institutions

Desirable Degree

Relevant disciplines include:

• Electrical Engineering

• Electronics & Communication Engineering

• Instrumentation Engineering

• Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

• Electrical and Computer Science Engineering

• Electrical and Control Engineering

• Bio-Medical Engineering

Candidates should have at least 55% marks from a recognized Institute/University or equivalent CGPA.

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month (Consolidated)

Duration

1 Year, co-terminus with the project, subject to satisfactory performance.
