The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) invites applications for 01 Project Research Scientist-I position in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering under an ICMR, Government of India-sponsored research project. Selection will be conducted through an offline interview on September 25, 2026.

Position Overview

Project Title

Spatio-Temporal Predictive Modelling of Mental-Wellbeing Using GIS, Climate and Environmental Determinants in India

The project involves interdisciplinary research combining computer science, GIS, predictive modelling, climate data, and environmental determinants.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

Option 1

• B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. or Integrated M.Tech. in:

  • Computer Science & Engineering

  • Information Technology

  • Equivalent discipline

• Degree should be from an Institute of National Importance or AICTE-approved University/Institution

• Minimum 65% marks or 7.0 CGPA out of 10 in M.E./M.Tech.

OR

Option 2

• B.E./B.Tech. from an Institute of National Importance

• Minimum 85% marks or 9.0 CGPA out of 10

Relaxation

For SC/ST/PwD candidates, relaxation of:

• 5% marks, or

• 0.5 CGPA

will be applicable.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• GATE/NET qualification

• Proficiency in computer programming

Salary / Fellowship

The selected Project Research Scientist-I will receive:

INR 56,000 per month + 20% HRA

HRA will be applicable if accommodation is not provided by the institute.

Age Limit

Maximum Age: 35 years

Applicable age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India norms.

Duration of Engagement

The initial appointment will be for 1 year.

The engagement may be extended up to 3 years, subject to applicable project requirements and satisfactory performance.

PhD Opportunity

The selected candidate may get an opportunity to enrol for a Ph.D. at NIT Calicut, subject to fulfilling the requirements prescribed under the institute's Ph.D. rules and regulations.
