Overview of Role

Nicholls State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Accounting & Finance.

The position combines teaching, scholarly activity, student engagement, and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach Finance courses while maintaining an active publication record and contributing to departmental and university initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

Teaching – 55%

• Teach 9 credit hours of Finance courses per semester.

• Deliver student-focused instruction.

• Teach in classroom and online formats.

• Maintain regular accessibility and interaction with students.

• Engage in continuous professional improvement.

Scholarly Activity – 30%

• Conduct academic research.

• Publish peer-reviewed journal articles.

• Contribute to conference proceedings.

• Maintain appropriate academic qualifications through ongoing scholarly activity.

Service – 15%

• Participate in student advising.

• Serve on institutional committees.

• Contribute to departmental, college, university, community, and professional activities.

• Participate in program review.

• Support student recruitment and retention.

• Undertake other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Minimum Education:

• Ph.D. or DBA in Finance or a related field.

• A degree from an AACSB-accredited institution is preferred.

• ABD candidates may be considered but must provide strong evidence that all doctoral requirements will be completed.

Additional Requirements:

• Commitment to effective teaching.

• Strong record of scholarly publication.
