Overview of Role

The Department of Business at Montana Technological University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning in August 2027.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate Business courses using multiple delivery methods, with the primary focus on courses required under the Department’s undergraduate Accounting Option.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Teach a variety of undergraduate Business courses.

• Primarily teach courses within the Accounting Option.

• Use multiple course delivery and instructional methods.

• Carry a normal teaching load of 4 courses per semester.

• Advise undergraduate students.

• Serve on departmental and university committees.

• Participate in professional development.

• Engage in scholarly activity.

• Contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service expectations for tenure and promotion.

Course reductions may be available for value-adding activities related to scholarship and service.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following pathways:

Path A

• Master’s degree in Business or a closely related discipline

• Minimum 5 years of pertinent industry experience

OR

Path B

• Earned Doctorate degree

• Business-focused undergraduate or graduate degree

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• Excellent written communication skills

• Excellent oral communication skills

• Ability to use a range of technologies for course delivery and management

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Active professional Accounting certification such as:

  • CPA

  • CMA

  • CIMA

  • Equivalent certification

• Master’s degree in Accounting

• Prior undergraduate-level teaching experience

• Experience using and/or teaching:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel

  • Microsoft Power BI

  • Tableau

  • SAP

  • Equivalent ERP platforms

• Relevant professional experience in Business or Accounting
