Overview of Role

Merced College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Professor of Accounting/Business position in the Business Department. The successful candidate will teach courses across the Accounting and Business programs, with a major teaching assignment in the college’s Rising Scholars Prison Education Program.

The standard teaching load is 15 units per semester and may include prison education, in-person, online, dual-enrollment, evening, and weekend courses.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Teach a variety of Accounting and Business courses.

• Provide instruction primarily within the Rising Scholars Prison Education Program.

• Teach additional courses on the Merced Campus, online, or through dual enrollment as required.

• Deliver innovative and effective instruction using current pedagogical practices.

• Maintain regular and substantive contact with students.

• Use the Learning Management System for assignments, examinations, grades, syllabi, and course materials.

• Maintain regular office hours and support student learning.

• Participate in curriculum development and review.

• Contribute to the development of teaching methods and instructional materials.

• Participate in departmental, divisional, and campus committees.

• Contribute to course, program, and institutional learning-outcome assessment.

• Support institutional initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for both Accounting and Business.

Accounting Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Accountancy or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration; OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or Economics with an Accounting emphasis plus a Master’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Education, Economics, Taxation, Finance, or equivalent; OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration plus a CPA license; OR

• Equivalent education or experience.

Business Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Business, Business Management, Business Administration, Accountancy, Finance, Marketing, or Business Education; OR

• Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields plus a Master’s degree in Economics, Personnel Management, Public Administration, J.D., or LL.B.; OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a Business emphasis plus a Master’s degree in Personnel Management, Public Administration, J.D., or LL.B.; OR

• Equivalent education or experience.

• Candidates should demonstrate sensitivity to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

• The successful candidate must be able to meet background-clearance requirements associated with teaching in correctional institutions.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Annual Salary: Approximately INR 70.85 lakh – INR 95.84 lakh

• Initial Maximum Salary Placement: Approximately INR 95.84 lakh annually

• Successful candidates with doctoral degrees receive additional salary-step placement and a doctoral stipend.
