The Journal of Strategy and Management invites submissions for a Special Issue examining strategic governance, ecosystem management, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence within digital marketplaces.
About the Special Issue
Digital marketplaces have evolved from transactional channels into strategic infrastructures that influence how organizations access markets, coordinate relationships, distribute value, and compete. Platform rules governing pricing, commissions, access, ranking, recommendations, and enforcement increasingly shape the strategic choices of firms and other ecosystem participants.
The growing integration of AI and generative AI adds another layer to marketplace governance. Algorithmic ranking, automated monitoring, fraud detection, dynamic pricing, advertising automation, and AI-supported customer management are transforming managerial control and ecosystem coordination. This Special Issue seeks research explaining how organizations, platforms, SMEs, and ecosystem actors respond to these developments while addressing questions of power, dependence, transparency, fairness, accountability, resilience, and strategic autonomy.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to:
Governance architecture in digital marketplaces
Design and evolution of platform governance systems
