Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA) at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning (CESP) under an ICSSR-funded Major Research Project titled “Formalization of Gig Workers in India: A Quantitative and Qualitative Assessment in Major Cities.”

The position offers a consolidated monthly remuneration of INR 37,000, with an initial appointment duration of six months.

About the Research Project

Project Title: Formalization of Gig Workers in India: A Quantitative and Qualitative Assessment in Major Cities

The research project, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), focuses on examining the formalization of gig workers in major Indian cities through quantitative and qualitative assessment.

The selected Research Assistant will contribute to the research project under the supervision of the Project Director.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates applying for the Research Assistant position must possess:

• A postgraduate degree in Economics.

• A minimum of 55% marks in the postgraduate degree.

• NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D. qualification, as specified in the advertisement.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience in data analysis.

• Familiarity with statistical and econometric software packages.

• Working knowledge of R, STATA, EViews, or similar software.

Salary and Remuneration

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of:

INR 37,000 per month

The appointment will be governed by the conditions applicable to the ICSSR-funded research project.

Appointment Duration

• Initial Duration: 6 months.

• Nature: Purely temporary.

• Continuation: Initially for six months or until the candidate's services are required by the Project Director.
