Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, invites applications for two Guest Faculty positions at the Centre for Ayurveda Biology, School of Sanskrit & Indic Studies.

The recruitment will be conducted in accordance with UGC Regulations, 2018, as amended from time to time.

Position Overview

About the Opportunity

Jawaharlal Nehru University is inviting applications from eligible candidates for two Guest Faculty positions in the Centre for Ayurveda Biology under the School of Sanskrit & Indic Studies.

The opportunity is intended for candidates who meet the prescribed academic qualifications and eligibility requirements for university-level teaching.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

1. Educational Qualification

• A Master's degree with 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point-scale grading system in a concerned, relevant, or allied subject from an Indian university.

• Alternatively, an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

2. National Eligibility Test (NET)

In addition to the academic qualification, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar examination accredited by UGC, such as SLET/SET.

Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and subsequent amendments, may be eligible for exemption from NET/SLET/SET as prescribed under the applicable regulations.

Ph.D. Exemption Criteria

Candidates registered for a Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009 will be governed by the applicable provisions of the institution awarding the degree.

Such candidates may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment as Assistant Professor or equivalent positions, subject to fulfilling the prescribed conditions, including:

1. The Ph.D. degree was awarded in regular mode.

2. The Ph.D. thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners.

3. An open Ph.D. viva voce examination was conducted.

4. The candidate published two research papers based on Ph.D. work, including at least one in a refereed journal.

5. The candidate presented at least two papers based on Ph.D. work at conferences or seminars sponsored, funded, or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or a similar agency.

Fulfilment of these conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the university concerned.

Nature of Appointment

The advertised positions are for Guest Faculty at the Centre for Ayurveda Biology.

Selected candidates will be engaged under the applicable university recruitment rules and UGC regulations.
