Project Title

“Language Policy and Minority Languages in India: Comparison across States”

The project is funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). (Jawaharlal Nehru University)

1. Research Assistant

Number of Positions: 01

Salary: INR 37,000 per month

No additional benefits or allowances are admissible.

Tenure: 01 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. (Jawaharlal Nehru University)

Essential Qualifications – Research Assistant

Applicants should have:

• Postgraduate degree in any Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.

• Preference will be given to applicants with an MA in Linguistics and/or a Modern Foreign Language.

• Strong understanding of:

  • Language policy research

  • Sociolinguistic theory

  • Theory of language learning and teaching

• In addition to Hindi and English, excellent knowledge of one or more of:

  • Telugu

  • Tamil

  • Kannada

  • Malayalam

Desirable Qualifications – Research Assistant

• NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D. in the relevant subject area

• Knowledge and experience of working with big data and data-based methods

• Willingness to travel for research purposes

2. Field Investigator

Number of Positions: 01

Salary: INR 20,000 per month

No additional benefits or allowances are admissible.

Tenure: 01 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. (Jawaharlal Nehru University)

Essential Qualifications – Field Investigator

Candidates should possess:

• Graduate degree in a relevant Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.

• Preference will be given to applicants with an MA and training in Linguistics and/or a Modern Foreign Language.

• Good understanding of:

  • Language policy research

  • Sociolinguistic theory

  • Theory of language learning and teaching
