The Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) invites applications from eligible candidates for Research Associate and Field Investigator positions under an ICSSR Major Research Project. The appointments are temporary and linked to the duration of the sponsored research project.

Position Overview

About the Project

The positions are available under an ICSSR Major Research Project in the Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University.

The project deals with translation studies, literary translation, Indian literature, multilingual literary traditions, and related research areas.

1. Research Associate – 01 Post

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• Postgraduate degree in English / Translation Studies / Social Sciences or an allied discipline

• Minimum 55% marks

• M.Phil./Ph.D.

• At least two years of research experience

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Knowledge of literary translation

• Experience in Hindi/Urdu/Bangla/Malayalam literary traditions and modern Bengali literature

• Knowledge of tools such as Zotero

• Experience in handling bibliographical databases

• Experience in translation-related research

• Academic writing, editing and proofreading skills

• Proficiency in computer applications and research tools

Remuneration

INR 47,000 per month – Fixed

Duration

12 months initially, extendable for another 12 months based on performance and the project's requirements.

Age Limit

Not exceeding 30 years as on the date of application.

2. Field Investigator – 01 Post

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess a Postgraduate degree in English with a minimum of 55% marks, or an equivalent relevant qualification as specified in the advertisement.

Remuneration

INR 20,000 per month – Fixed

Duration

The appointment is project-based. The detailed duration/extension conditions should be confirmed from the complete official notification.

Nature of Appointment

Both positions are temporary and project-based under the ICSSR-sponsored research project. Continuation/extension will depend on performance and project requirements.
