Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi has invited applications from Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-SERB research project. The project focuses on polarization-sensitive infrared photodetectors based on double van der Waals heterostructures. Eligible candidates can apply by 21 September 2026.

Project Title

“Polarization-Sensitive Infrared Photodetectors Based on Double van der Waals Heterostructures”

The research project focuses on advanced areas involving 2D materials, van der Waals heterostructures, nanotechnology, optoelectronics, and infrared photodetectors.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess either of the following:

Option 1 – M.Tech.

M.Tech. with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in:

• Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

• Optoelectronics

• Material Science

• Electronics and Communication

• Related relevant discipline

OR

Option 2 – M.Sc.

M.Sc. with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in:

• Electronics

• Physics

• Nanoscience & Nanotechnology

National-Level Qualification

Candidates should also be qualified through an eligible national-level examination, such as:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship

• GATE

OR through national-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments/agencies and institutions such as:

• DST

• DBT

• DAE

• DOS

• DRDO

• MHRD

• ICAR

• ICMR

• IITs

• IISc

• IISERs

• Other recognised agencies/institutions

Desirable Qualification / Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Minimum 01 year of research experience

• Research experience specifically in 2D materials

• Familiarity with nanomaterials, optoelectronics, semiconductor materials, or related research areas

Fellowship & Nature of Engagement

• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Fellowship: As per funding agency norms

• Duration: Until completion of the research project

• The position is associated with an ANRF-SERB funded research project.
