The Journal of Management Development invites contributions for a Special Issue examining how generative artificial intelligence is transforming managerial work and redefining the capabilities managers need to develop, exercise, and sustain in AI-enabled organisations.
About the Special Issue
Generative AI is rapidly changing managerial practice. Tools capable of drafting reports, analysing data, summarising meetings, and generating strategic options are shifting managers away from simply producing work toward directing, evaluating, validating, and taking responsibility for AI-assisted outputs.
This Special Issue moves beyond describing technological change to focus specifically on management development. It seeks research identifying the capabilities managers now require, how these capabilities can be developed and assessed, and how organisations can redesign management development for an environment in which humans increasingly work and make decisions alongside generative AI. Contributions offering rigorous research alongside practical and transferable guidance are particularly encouraged.
