The International Journal of Emerging Markets invites submissions for a Special Issue examining entrepreneurship, international business, and management across the Balkan region, with particular attention to transitional economies, institutional change, digital transformation, internationalisation, and sustainable business development.
About the Special Issue
The Balkan region provides a distinctive environment for studying entrepreneurship and management because of its diverse institutional structures, transition from socialist economic systems, continuing European integration, cross-border relationships, and rapidly evolving markets. Differences in governance, access to finance and talent, formal and informal institutions, and regulatory environments offer important opportunities to reconsider established theories of entrepreneurship and international business.
The Special Issue seeks research grounded in the economic, institutional, cultural, and social diversity of the Balkans while generating insights relevant beyond the region. Contributions may examine individuals, organizations, entrepreneurial ecosystems, or institutions and explore how Balkan experiences can enrich broader theories of entrepreneurial action, institutional transformation, internationalisation, and organizational strategy.
