The International Journal of Emerging Markets invites submissions for a Special Issue examining entrepreneurship, international business, and management within the diverse and rapidly evolving economies of the Balkan region.
About the Special Issue
The Balkans provide a distinctive setting for studying entrepreneurship and business because of their historically shaped institutions, transition from socialist economic systems, continuing European integration, cross-border relationships, and diverse market environments. Differences in governance, access to finance and talent, informal institutions, and economic policies create valuable opportunities to test and extend established theories of entrepreneurship, internationalisation, and organizational development.
The Special Issue seeks research grounded in the region's unique institutional, cultural, social, and economic characteristics while producing insights relevant beyond the Balkans. Contributions may examine individuals, businesses, entrepreneurial ecosystems, or institutions and explore how regional experiences can contribute to broader theories of entrepreneurial action, institutional transformation, international business, and organizational strategy.
