Special Issue
Manuscript Submission Opens: 15 January 2027
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 15 June 2027

The International Journal of Emerging Markets invites submissions for a Special Issue exploring entrepreneurship, international business, and management across the Balkan region, with particular attention to transitional economies, institutional change, internationalisation, resilience, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

About the Special Issue

The Balkans provide a distinctive setting for examining entrepreneurship and management because of their diverse institutional environments, transition from socialist economic systems, continuing European integration, cross-border relationships, and evolving business ecosystems. Differences in governance, access to finance and talent, formal and informal institutions, and market structures offer valuable opportunities to examine and challenge established theories.

The Special Issue seeks research grounded in the region's unique economic, cultural, institutional, and historical contexts while generating insights relevant beyond the Balkans. Contributions may investigate individuals, firms, entrepreneurial ecosystems, or institutions and develop new perspectives on entrepreneurial action, international business, organizational strategy, and institutional transformation.
