The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) invites applications from Indian nationals for 01 Project Consultant position in the Department of Physics under a research project sponsored by the National Quantum Mission, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.

Position Overview

Project Title

QUEST – Quantum Enhanced WRF Model for Urban Climate System Modelling

The project focuses on integrating quantum algorithms with advanced urban climate modelling, including development and testing of quantum computational approaches for climate-system applications.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• Ph.D.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Applicants should have suitable research expertise aligned with the requirements of the project.

Relevant Research Areas

The position is particularly relevant to candidates with experience or research interests in:

• Quantum Computing

• Quantum Algorithms

• Computational Physics

• Scientific Computing

• Climate Modelling

• Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF)

• Numerical Modelling

• Urban Climate Systems

• Interdisciplinary Computational Research

Key Responsibilities

The selected Project Consultant will be responsible for:

• Project coordination and management

• Development of Quantum Algorithms

• Testing and validation of quantum algorithms

• Supporting implementation of project objectives

• Coordinating research activities

• Technical and scientific documentation

• Contributing to the overall execution of the QUEST project

Emoluments

The selected candidate will receive:

INR 1,47,000 per month + HRA

HRA will be provided as applicable under project / Institute norms.

Duration of Appointment

The project position is available for a duration of:

3 Years

The appointment will be governed by the applicable IIT Roorkee and sponsored-project rules.
