Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) invites applications from Indian nationals for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a sponsored research project in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The project is being carried out under the supervision of Prof. Manoj Tripathy.

Position Overview

About the Project

Project Title: Adaptive Protection of Distribution Network Systems with DER Integration

The research focuses on the study and development of smart distribution networks, including laboratory hardware involving different types of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).

The selected JRF will contribute to developing, validating, and testing adaptive protection algorithms during the operation of the distribution grid.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.E. / M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering / Power System or equivalent branches

• B.Tech. / B.E. with a valid GATE score

Desirable Background

Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge of:

• Power System Protection

• Concepts of Microgrid

• Integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER)

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

• Study and set up a smart distribution network.

• Work with laboratory hardware involving various types of DER.

• Develop adaptive protection algorithms.

• Validate and test protection algorithms during distribution-grid operation.

Fellowship

First Two Years: INR 40,000 per month – Consolidated

Next Two Years: INR 45,000 per month – Consolidated

Appointment Duration

The position is available for:

4 years or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

• Details of research, industrial, and other experience

• Self-attested copies of degree/certificates

• Self-attested copies of experience certificates

• Proof of qualifying GATE score, including marks obtained, rank, and year of qualification

Candidates must bring original degree/certificates and experience certificates at the time of interview for verification.
