The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) invites applications from Indian nationals for 01 Research Associate position under a consultancy/research project in the Department of Hydrology. The project focuses on hydrology assessment, dam-break analysis, emergency action planning, hazard assessment, and operation & maintenance planning for dams.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Revised Hydrology Assessment, Dam Break Analysis, Emergency Action Planning, Hazard Potential and O&M Manual for Ten Dams of SIPC, Rajkot”

The project involves technical assessment and planning related to dam safety, disaster risk reduction, hydrological analysis, emergency preparedness, and GIS-based emergency action planning.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• MBA in Disaster Management

Desirable Experience

Candidates should have:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in preparing:

  • Disaster Management Plans

  • Emergency Action Plans

• Knowledge of GIS

• Experience or understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction

Preference will be given to candidates having prior experience in preparing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for dams.

Job Responsibilities

The selected Research Associate should possess good knowledge and practical understanding of:

• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

• Emergency Action Plan preparation

• Disaster management planning

• Dam safety and emergency preparedness

• Disaster risk reduction

• Technical documentation associated with the project

Fellowship / Emoluments

The selected candidate will receive:

INR 30,000 – 75,000 per month + HRA

HRA will be provided as applicable according to IIT Roorkee Institute norms.

Duration of Appointment

The appointment will continue:

Up to 30 June 2027 or until completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

The position is temporary and associated with the specified consultancy/research project.
