The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) has invited applications for the position of Research Associate-I (RA-I) under a sponsored research project funded by IRDE, DRDO.

Eligible candidates with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Physical Sciences or related disciplines and relevant research experience can apply for this opportunity.

Position Overview

Project Title

Development of Thermally Controlled Modules of Optronic Payloads for Stratospheric Operation

The project involves research and development related to thermal management and thermally controlled modules for optronic payloads intended for stratospheric applications.

Preference will be given to candidates having relevant experience in computational and experimental heat transfer, along with expertise in developing experimental systems.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should fulfil either of the following qualification requirements:

PhD Route

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent discipline

Candidates who have already submitted their PhD thesis may also be considered, provided they have prior research experience in the broad area of physical sciences demonstrated through:

• Quality journal publications

• Patents

• Technology development

OR

M.Tech Route

• M.Tech in any of the following or an equivalent discipline:

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Thermal Engineering

  • Manufacturing Engineering

  • Mechatronics

  • Chemical Engineering

Candidates applying through the M.Tech route should have:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in an area connected with the project requirements

• Demonstrated research interest through:

  • Quality journal publications

  • Patents

  • Technology development

Desired Experience

Candidates with relevant professional or research experience in the following areas will be preferred:

• Computational Heat Transfer

• Experimental Heat Transfer

• Thermal Engineering

• Development of thermal-control systems

• Design of experimental systems

• Fabrication of experimental test rigs

• Development of laboratory setups

• Research related to thermal management

Expertise in designing and fabricating experimental test rigs and setups is desirable.

Salary / Fellowship

The selected Research Associate-I will receive:

• INR 58,000 per month

• HRA as per Government of India rules

The position is a purely time-bound research assignment associated with the sponsored project.

Duration & Age Limit

• Duration of Position: 08 Months

• Upper Age Limit: As per Government norms applicable to the RA-I position

• Age relaxation may be provided to suitable candidates with higher qualifications, subject to applicable rules.
