The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) – National Quantum Mission (NQM). The appointment will be temporary and offered on a consolidated salary basis.

Position Overview

Project Title

Design, Implementation and Benchmarking of Variational Quantum Eigensolvers Using Noisy-Intermediate-Scale-Quantum Devices for Chemical and Strategic Applications

Project Overview

The project aims to develop variational quantum algorithms on a linear optical quantum computing architecture.

The selected candidate will work in interdisciplinary research areas including:

• Quantum optics

• Photonics

• Quantum computing

• Variational Quantum Eigensolvers (VQE)

• Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices

• Quantum algorithms for chemical and strategic applications

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:

• B.Tech./B.E.

• M.Sc. or equivalent

The degree should be in one of the following disciplines:

• Physics

• Engineering Physics

• Applied Physics

• Photonics

• Chemical Sciences

Candidates should have secured at least:

• 60% aggregate marks, or

• 6.0 CGPA, or equivalent.

Fellowship

The selected Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will receive:

INR 37,000 per month + HRA, if applicable

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 30 years as on the last date of application.

Appointment & Project Duration

The initial appointment will be for 12 months or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

The appointment may be renewed for additional months/years based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.

The overall project duration is 36 months, with the project scheduled to end on August 13, 2029.
