Essential Qualification

Candidates are generally expected to possess:

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline/area

• First Class or equivalent in relevant preceding degrees, as applicable

Experience Requirements

Professor

• Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience.

• At least 4 years of experience at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent.

Associate Professor

• Minimum 6 years of teaching/research/industrial experience.

• At least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.

Assistant Professor Grade I

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.

• Minimum 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience.

Assistant Professor Grade II

Candidates possessing the required academic qualifications but not yet meeting the prescribed post-Ph.D. experience requirement for Grade I may be considered for Assistant Professor Grade II, subject to IIT Jammu norms. (FacultyVacancy)

Career Progression

Assistant Professor Grade I

After completing three years of service in Academic Level 12, an Assistant Professor Grade I may become eligible for movement to Academic Level 13A1 (INR 1,31,400–2,04,700), subject to satisfactory performance and recommendation of the Assessment Committee.

Assistant Professor Grade II

Assistant Professor Grade II may be moved to Assistant Professor Grade I – Academic Level 12 after fulfilling the minimum experience requirement and demonstrating satisfactory teaching and research performance. (Indian Institute of Technology Jammu)

• Visiting Professor – Contract or Deputation
