Project Title

About the Project

The ANRF-sponsored project focuses on developing a formate-based injection method for enhanced carbon storage and oil recovery, with potential applications in supporting energy security and net-zero goals.

The selected JRF will work under the supervision of Dr. Neetish Kumar Maurya, Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering, OR

• M.Sc. in Chemistry

• Candidates must be GATE or NET qualified

Desirable Qualification

For Petroleum Engineering Candidates

Experience or knowledge in:

• Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)

• Reservoir simulation

For Chemistry / Chemical Engineering Candidates

Knowledge of:

• Basic chemistry of salt

• Surfactants

• Polymers

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will contribute to:

• Designing different formate-based chemical slugs for EOR and carbon sequestration.

• Evaluating different injection schemes and their synergy with other chemical EOR methods.

Fellowship

First Two Years: INR 37,000 per month + applicable HRA

Third Year: INR 42,000 per month + applicable HRA, subject to satisfactory performance.

Project Duration

The position is initially for one year and may be extended up to three years or completion of the project.

Ph.D. Opportunity

The selected candidate may be allowed to register for the Ph.D. programme at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad as per Institute rules.

The position may also be converted into a regular Institute JRF if the candidate is admitted to the Ph.D. programme.

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 28 years at the time of appointment.

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Female candidates as per Government of India/DST rules.
