Project Title

“Resilient Edge-LoRa System for Early Gas Hazard Detection in Coal Mines and Adjacent Communities”

Project Tenure: 3 Years
Project Period: 30 March 2026 to 29 March 2029

Overview of Role

The selected candidate will work on the design and development of an Edge-LoRa-based IoT prototype for real-time gas hazard monitoring in coal mines and nearby communities.

The project combines IoT, embedded systems, wireless communication, edge analytics, machine learning and sensor-based monitoring.

Key Responsibilities & Research Scope

The selected candidate will contribute to:

• Design and development of an Edge-LoRa-based IoT prototype.

• Integration of sensors and embedded devices.

• Development of lightweight edge analytics and machine learning algorithms.

• Evaluation of communication and network performance.

• Laboratory and field validation of the developed system.

• Data analysis and technical documentation.

• Preparation of project reports and research publications.

• Prototype demonstrations.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess any of the following degrees in a relevant discipline:

• B.E. / B.Tech.

• M.Tech.

• M.S.

• MCA

• M.Sc.

Relevant disciplines include:

• Computer Science & Engineering

• Mathematics & Computing

• Electronics & Communication Engineering

• Electrical Engineering

• Artificial Intelligence

• Data Science

• Other related disciplines

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with a background in:

• Computer Networks

• IoT and Embedded Systems

• Wireless Communication

• C / C++ / Python Programming

• Linux / Ubuntu

• Machine Learning

• Raspberry Pi / ESP platforms

• Sensors

• LoRa / LoRaWAN

GATE/NET qualification is desirable.

Fellowship

For GATE/NET Qualified Candidates:
INR 31,000 per month

For Candidates without GATE/NET:
INR 25,000 per month

Age Limit

Maximum Age: 35 Years

Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India / IIT (ISM) Dhanbad norms.
