Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 – IIT Indore

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) invites applications from interested and motivated candidates for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a DRDE-DRDO funded research project in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science.

Position Overview

Project Title

MXene-based degradation of life-threatening chemicals and toxic industrial gases

About the Project

The research project focuses on the synthesis and development of MXenes and their heterostructures with MOF and Metal Oxides for the degradation and detoxification of life-threatening chemicals and toxic industrial gases.

The selected candidate may also be required to travel to RRCAT Indore for synchrotron studies at Indus beamlines and to DRDE Gwalior for detoxification studies.

Key Research Responsibilities

The project work includes:

• Synthesis and development of MXenes

• Development of MXene heterostructures with MOF and Metal Oxides

• Prototype fabric development

• Degradation and detoxification studies

• Advanced materials characterization using:

  • FESEM

  • XRD

  • XPS

  • XAS

  • TEM/HRTEM

  • BET

  • ICP-OES

  • RAMAN

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess either:

• M.Sc. in Chemistry / Physics / Materials Science / Nanoscience, OR

• M.Tech. in Materials Science and Engineering / Nanotechnology or equivalent discipline

Candidates should have First Division, as defined by the awarding Institute/University.

Preferred Qualification

Candidates who have qualified any of the following will be preferred:

• GATE

• NET-LS

• NET-Ph.D.

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month + 16% HRA

HRA will be provided as per Institute/Government rules.

Age Limit

Maximum Age: 28 years

Appointment Duration

The appointment will be for 30 months.

The position is co-terminus with the project or may end if the candidate does not perform satisfactorily.
