JRF & Lab Support Engineer Recruitment 2026 – IIT Hyderabad

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) invites applications for two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions in Optics and one Lab Support Engineer position for engineering work in the research group of Dr. Vandana Sharma, Department of Physics.

Position Overview

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 02 Positions

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.Sc. in Physics / Optics / Photonics or a related specialization

• Valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET-JRF

Desirable Skills & Experience

Candidates from Optics/Photonics backgrounds should preferably have:

• Hands-on experience in optical alignment and laboratory optics

• Familiarity with optical simulation software

• Experience in data acquisition, image processing, and image analysis

• Experimental experience with cameras, lasers, optical components, or imaging systems

Age Limit

Maximum 28 years as on 30 October 2026

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month + HRA

2. Lab Support Engineer – 01 Position

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess either:

• B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering

OR

• B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable Skills & Experience

Relevant skills include:

• Machine learning and deep learning

• Python programming

• Image processing

• Data analysis and visualization

• Databases and scientific data handling

• Mechanical design and engineering drawing

• CAD tools and stress/structural simulations

• Prototype development, fabrication, or instrumentation

Age Limit

Maximum 25 years as on 30 October 2026

Salary

INR 25,000 per month (Consolidated)

Computational & Analytical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following is desirable:

Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, data acquisition, data analysis, data visualization, image processing, and scientific computing.
