The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has invited applications for the position of Research Associate-I (RA-I) under a research project in the Department of Physics.

The project focuses on Quantum Annealing and Optimization for real-world applications including mobility, multi-modal logistics and railway resource scheduling.

Position Overview

Project Title

Quantum Annealing and Optimization: Mobility, Multi-Modal Logistics, Railway Resource Scheduling and Related Problems

The project aims to explore advanced quantum optimization techniques for solving complex real-world problems involving:

• Mobility

• Multi-modal logistics

• Railway resource scheduling

• Quantum optimization

• Related computational problems

Job Description

The selected Research Associate will work on:

• Developing a Quantum Annealing Simulator

• Developing and implementing speed-up protocols

• Solving real-world optimization problems using Quantum Annealing

• Numerical and computational studies

• Quantum optimization algorithms

• Related interdisciplinary research

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in any of the following or related fields:

• Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

• Quantum Physics

• Quantum Chemistry

• Computer Science

• Related disciplines

The Ph.D. should be from a recognized institute or university.

Candidates should also have:

• A strong background in programming

• Interest and experience in numerical studies

• Ability to undertake computational research related to quantum systems

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with prior research experience in:

• Quantum Optimization Algorithms

• Driven Dissipative Quantum Systems

• Artificial Intelligence

• Machine Learning

• Quantum Computing

• Numerical Simulation

• Scientific Programming

Salary / Compensation

The selected candidate will receive:

INR 58,000 per month + HRA

HRA will be provided according to the norms of the funding agency and IIT Hyderabad.

Duration of Appointment

• Initial appointment: 1 Year as Research Associate-I

• The appointment may potentially be extended for 2 additional years

• Subsequent positions may be as:

  • Research Associate-II

  • Research Associate-III

Extension will be subject to applicable project and institute conditions.
