The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) invites eligible candidates for an offline interview for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF – GATE) under a sponsored research project in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Position Overview

About the Project

The selected candidate will work on the research project titled:

“Integrated Biotechnological and Geochemical Approach for Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and Valorization of Wasted Drill Cuttings Using ACT and MCP.”

The project involves interdisciplinary research related to chemical engineering, biotechnology, carbon capture and utilization, and microbial/geochemical processes.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree (M.Tech.) or equivalent degree in:

• Chemical Engineering

• Biotechnology

• Petroleum Technology/Engineering

Candidates must also satisfy the applicable national-level examination requirements specified in the official advertisement.

Preferred Research Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having relevant research experience in biotechnology.

Desirable Expertise

Candidates with experience or knowledge in the following areas are desirable:

• Isolation and characterization of indigenous urease-producing bacteria

• Microbially Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP)

• Microbially Induced Carbonate Precipitation processes

• Biotechnology-related experimental research

Fellowship / Remuneration

Basic Pay: INR 37,000 per month
HRA: INR 6,660 per month
Total Amount: INR 43,660 per month

The appointment is for 11 months.
