Position Overview

About the Opportunity

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) invites applications for two temporary Project Engineer positions under the C-NARMADA project in the Department of Civil Engineering.

The positions will work under Prof. Pranab Mohapatra and involve hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling, field data collection, technical documentation, and project-related research activities.

Essential Qualification

Candidates must possess:

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Water Resources Engineering.

• Minimum 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards.

• Minimum 55% or equivalent grade in Class 10 and Class 12.

Desirable Qualification / Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience with Hydraulic and Hydrologic Modelling

• Experience with GIS

• Experience with Open Channel Flow experiments

• Knowledge of MATLAB/Python

• Experience in Flood Modelling

• A degree from an IIT/IISc

Key Responsibilities

The selected Project Engineers will be expected to:

• Develop hydrological and hydrodynamic models for a defined watershed.

• Collect and survey field data as required.

• Prepare project documentation, technical/administrative reports, and presentations for stakeholders.

• Liaise with academic, industry, and government stakeholders and maintain relationships with external collaborators.

• Publish in high-quality journals and contribute to project deliverables.

• Undertake other activities assigned by the competent authority.

Remuneration

Consolidated Monthly Remuneration: INR 60,000 – INR 1,25,000

Appointment Duration

The appointment will be for 6 months or until the project completion date, whichever is earlier.
