The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) invites applications for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering under the research project titled “Flood Management Study for Dholera City.”

Position Overview

About the Research Project

Project Title: Flood Management Study for Dholera City

The research project focuses on flood management and hydrological modelling for Dholera City.

The opportunity is relevant to researchers working in water resources engineering, flood risk assessment, GIS-based analysis, and mathematical modelling of water systems.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, or a closely related field.

• Candidates who have submitted their doctoral thesis may also apply, subject to institute rules.

Academic Eligibility:

The advertisement specifies academic percentage/grade requirements under institute norms, including a minimum of 60% or equivalent grade from graduation onwards and 55% or equivalent grade in Class 10 and Class 12.

Desirable Qualifications and Research Experience

Candidates should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas:

1. Applications of hydrological modelling.

2. Remote Sensing, GIS, and Surveying for Natural Disasters.

3. Flood inundation mapping.

4. Mathematical or hydrological modelling of water systems.

Additional Skills

• Experience with numerical modelling and scientific programming.

• Evidence of research ability through peer-reviewed publications or comparable scholarly outputs.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Salary / Monthly Remuneration

The final remuneration will be determined based on the selected candidate's academic qualifications and relevant research experience.

Appointment Duration

• Duration: 9 months or until 31 July 2027, whichever is earlier.

• Nature of Appointment: Temporary, project-based research engagement.

• The appointment is subject to the terms and conditions of IIT Gandhinagar.
