Position Overview

About the Research Project

The ISRO-funded research project titled “Development of in situ engineered additive manufacturing technique for fabricating Inconel 718 parts” aims to develop an advanced engineering methodology for depositing and monitoring Inconel 718 components through laser-based additive manufacturing.

The research will utilise the Direct Energy Deposition (DED) system at IIT Bhilai as a demonstration platform.

The project focuses on developing online quality monitoring and control strategies using machine learning-based approaches.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess either of the following qualifications:

Option 1:

M.Tech / M.E. or an equivalent degree.

OR

Option 2:

B.Tech / B.E. or an equivalent degree with a valid GATE score.

Candidates should preferably have two years of relevant experience in engineering or technology.

Applicants with expertise in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

1. Signal Processing and Image/Video Analysis: Experience in processing and analysing signals, images, and video data.

2. Additive Manufacturing: Understanding of additive manufacturing technologies and laser-based manufacturing processes.

3. Programming Skills: Expertise in Python and MATLAB.

4. Manufacturing and Process Control: Experience or familiarity with manufacturing processes, superalloys, and digital control.

These skills are particularly relevant to the project's research on quality monitoring and machine learning-based control strategies.

Fellowship and Remuneration

The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive:

Total Fellowship: ₹37,000 per month + HRA
