About the Opportunity

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM) invites applications for one Project Scientist position under the research project:

“Targeting Metabolic Dysregulations for Neuroprotection in Parkinson’s Disease”

The project is funded by Cure Parkinson’s UK and focuses on understanding metabolic dysregulation and developing potential neuroprotective approaches for Parkinson’s disease.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Ph.D. in any discipline of Life Sciences with relevant research experience

• Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral experience

• Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques

• Postgraduate degree passed with First Class

Desirable Qualification

Candidates should preferably have demonstrable hands-on experience in:

• Mammalian cell culture

• Mouse work / animal models

• Molecular biology techniques

• Production of adenoviruses or lentiviruses

• Generation of transgenic cell lines

• Biochemical techniques

• Biophysical techniques

A strong track record of high-quality research publications is highly desirable.

Candidates must be able to join from November 1, 2026.

Experience Required

Candidates should have:

Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral research experience

Relevant experience should ideally include advanced research in:

• Molecular Biology

• Cell Biology

• Neuroscience

• Neurodegenerative Diseases

• Animal Models

• Viral Vector Technology

• Biochemistry / Biophysics

Remuneration

The selected Project Scientist will receive:

INR 1,00,000 per month (Consolidated)

The fellowship will be upgraded at the start of the 3rd year, as stated in the advertisement.

No separate HRA will be provided.

Appointment Duration

The overall tenure of the position is:

3 Years

The initial appointment will be for:

6 Months

Continuation will be subject to satisfactory performance.

Age Limit

Maximum Age: 50 years
