Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) invites applications from Indian nationals for one Research Associate-I position under the project “Biogeography of Birds – Peninsular India.” The position is purely contractual and co-terminus with the project.

Position Overview

About the Opportunity

The position is associated with research on the biogeography of birds in Peninsular India, within the broader research area of Ecology and Evolution.

The selected Research Associate will work under the supervision of Dr. V V Robin. The appointment is temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• Ph.D. degree in any area of Science, with skills relevant to the project.

• Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of a Ph.D. degree may also apply.

• Evidence of having conducted high-quality research during or after the Ph.D. programme is required.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience in evolutionary biology, population genomics, phylogenomics, landscape genomics, or conservation genomics.

• Proficiency in R, Python, Bash, and bioinformatics or computational genomic workflows.

• Ability to work collaboratively.

• Ability to mentor undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. students.

Fellowship

Candidates who produce the Ph.D. certificate:

• INR 58,000 per month

• Plus 9% HRA

Candidates whose Ph.D. degree is awaited:

• INR 42,000 per month

• Plus 9% HRA

• Such candidates must produce a letter from a competent authority confirming that the thesis has been submitted and the final viva/defence is pending.

Appointment Duration

• Initial appointment: 6 months

• Renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

• The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Age Limit

Candidates should be not more than 40 years of age as of the closing date of the advertisement.

Selection will be conducted through a Walk-in Interview.
