Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) invites applications from Indian nationals for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I position under a Coefficient Giving-funded research project. The appointment is purely on a contract basis.

Position Overview

Project Title

To develop novel antiviral platforms and identify drugs against henipaviruses such as Nipah virus and Hendra virus

About the Opportunity

The selected candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development of novel antiviral platforms and the identification of drugs targeting henipaviruses, including Nipah virus and Hendra virus.

The project is led by Prof. Guruprasad R. Medigeshi at IISER Tirupati.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess one of the following:

• Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences

• Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences

• BVSc

• B.Pharm

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering / Biotechnology / Medicine from a recognized university or equivalent

Desirable Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Mammalian cell culture

• Virus assays

• Protein expression and purification

• Molecular biology techniques

Fellowship

For National-Level Examination Qualified Candidates

INR 37,000 per month + 9% HRA

Applicable to scholars selected through:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship

• GATE

• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions

For Other Eligible Candidates

INR 30,000 per month + 9% HRA

Appointment Duration

The initial appointment will be for six months.

The position may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and is temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Age Limit

Candidates should be not more than 50 years of age on the date of interview.

Nature of Appointment

The position is offered purely on a contract basis under the Coefficient Giving-funded project.
